Annual Hospice Shoot, 30 June
The Hospice Charity shoot hosted by The IOM Clay Pigeon Shooting Club was held on Sunday 30th June with 85 competitors taking part in at first dull overcast conditions but finishing in bright sunshine.
With the first squad out at 9 am and the last squad starting out at 3-40 pm a long day was in the offering. Once all the scores had been gathered we had the following results:








The individual overall highgun went to Liam Kirkpatrick who scored 45 the same as Peter Kelly but Liam won on count back hitting all 10 targets on the last stand to Peter’s 9. Peter though won the veterans gold medal with Paul Mihailovits taking the silver with 41 points on count back from George Davies in the bronze position. The winning senior was Mark Barnett with 44 points with Michael Cross taking silver on count back from Mark Corrin who both scored 43.In the ladies section Jennie Robertson was the winner also on count back from Irene Stockil who both scored 37 with Sue Doyle taking bronze on 36.In the colt section Joe Faragher was the winner on 36 with Ollie Tobin taking silver on 35 and taking the bronze with 32 points was Ossie McLaren.
In the non members section Wayne Corlett was the winner with 39 points with S Wade taking the silver with 36 points and A Halsall taking bronze with 34 points. The last of the individual sections was the novices and winning the gold medal was K Tastagh with 31 points winning on count back From G Harrison in silver medal position ,taking the bronze medal was with 30 points was R Kissack .






In the team highgun section the first team out on the day being Mark Barnett, Peter Kelly, Liam Kirkpatrick and Kim Tastagh won with 165 points, also winning the Mike and Margret Cross highgun cup. In the silver medal position with 159 points was Brian Faragher, Joe Faragher, Mark Sweetman and Mark Corrin who beat Stan Cross, Michael Cross Will Rand and Neil Parsons on count back who took the bronze.
In the handicap section the bronze medal went to T Kinrade, S Corkill, G Wright and E Hardisty with 182.3 points, in the silver medal position with 183.7 points were P Vincent, G Brown, J McCarthy and C Canter but winning the Gold medal and also the Voirrey Kelly highgun cup were B Owen, K Watterson, L Cubbon and S Cubbon.








A big thank you must go to all are sponsors Laporte clays for supplying the clays for the event Manx Independent for transporting them to the Island, Eley Hawk for the ammunition, Strand Vets with helping with the cost of the polo shirts, NFU for the purchase of the medals, Harrison and Garrett for the burgers and sausages etc for the buffet, Lisa and Johnny for the preparation and serving of the excellent buffet, Chris Workman for the beautiful cakes also to all the other people, companies that donated to this very worthy course, to those people that helped in setting up the range, marking, referring, picking up afterwards and last but not least, to all you competitors in taking part in making it another very enjoyable day in raising money for Hospice IOM which this year we have raised approximately £3400-00, taking monies raised so far to approximately £37000-00.
