Mihailovits Keeps his Nerve

CM Partners English Skeet GP

The annual CM Partners English Skeet GP was held at Meary Veg Santon with 18 competitors taking part in near ideal conditions with the added  bonus of over £700 in the prize fund.

The joint leaders after the first round were Michael Cross and Paul Mihailovits with perfect 25 straights, in equal third place were Roman Sammer, James Simpson, Dave Corlett and  junior Joe Faragher. At the end of the second round Mihailovits was in the lead with 50 straight to lead by one from Michael Cross who in turn was one ahead of Roman Sammer on 48 followed by junior Zac Bellhouse on 47 who had a straight in his second round.

Mihailovits was still in the lead by one after round three on 74 but this time it was Sammer who was second ,courtesy of a straight in his third round, in equal third place now were junior Zac Bellhouse (another straight) and Michael Cross on 72, in fifth place on 70 was Jeff Corkill and making up the top six were James Simpson, Dave Corlett and junior Joe Faragher on 69.

With the top five going through to a final it was all to shoot for to see who would get the spots. First spot in the final went to Mihailovits who finished on 98 in equal second place on 96 were Zac Bellhouse and Roman Sammer ,the forth spot went to Michael Cross on 95 but we had a four-way tie for fifth spot between Dave Corlett, Stan Cross, James Simpson and Joe Faragher all on 92 so a sudden death shoot was required to see who got the fifth spot and it went to junior Joe Faragher .

In the final there was some good shooting and at the end we had a tie between Mihailovits and Sammer on 121 so we had to have another sudden death shoot of and the winner was Paul Mihailovits who hit three of his four targets to Sammer’s two.

Mikey Wins Pro Sporting

Summer Pro Sporting League, Round Four

The fuorth round of the Dave and Pam Corlett Pro Sporting league was held at Meary Veg Santon with 17 competitors taking part in near ideal conditions over two very difficult layouts.

The leader after the first layout by a country mile was in form Michael Cross with 20 points, in second place on 14 was C class shooter Harvey Stembridge with Ted Kermeen and George Davies in equal third place on 13 followed by Peter Kelly and Mark Hepworth on 12.

The second layout proved to be slightly easier with four scores in the twenties. Harvey Stembridge finished in third place in C class on 28 points with Ted Kermeen taking second place on 31 but winning C class with 32 points was Mark Hepworth. In B class junior Zac Bellhouse finished in third place on 27 with Stan Cross taking second place on 28 but winning B class with 30 points was Mark Sweetman. In A class Peter Kelly finished in third place on 31 with Rob Corlett taking second place with 33 points, Rob had the best score of the round with 22, but winning A class by a clear seven points with a total of 40 points was the man in form Michael Cross – well done Michael.

Cross Makes it a Hat Trick

Fabrizio All-Round Championship

The Fabrizio All Round Championship was held at Meary Veg Santon in dry sunny and at times blustery conditions shot over five disciplines.

The leader after the first two disciplines, English skeet and DTL was last years champion Michael Cross with 146 points, in second place on 137 was Peter Kelly with Paul Mihailovits in third place on 134 followed by John Moore on 133, with Stan Cross and Liam Kirkpatrick making up the top six on 131.

The next two disciplines to be tackled were Olympic skeet and ABT and Cross just increased his lead to 27 points scoring the third best score on ABT (57) and the best score on Olympic skeet (69) for a running total of 272 with John Moore now in second place on 250 followed by Paul Mihailovits in third place on 245. Peter Kelly was next on 239 with Stan Cross only one point behind Kelly on 238 and in equal fifth place on 228 were Jeff Corkill and Giulio Fabrizio.

The final discipline was Pro sporting and in C class Mike Whitehead finished in second place on 224 with Giulio Fabrizio taking the class with 282 points. Junior Zac Bellhouse was second in B class with 282 points but winning B class with 292 points was Stan Cross. John Moore finished second in A class with 286 points but taking A class with 305 points was Paul Mihailovits, but the star of the day was Michael Cross who shot consistently throughout the day to retain the Fabrizio Cup for the third year running with 326 points, well done Michael.

English Sporting Summer League, Round 4

The fourth round of the Suntera Global Sporting League was held at Meary Veg Santon with 20 competitors taking part in cool, dry, overcast conditions, which also had the added incentive of the Ted Gohl Highgun Trophy and the Brian Faragher Handicap cup up for grabs.

The leader after the first stand were George Davies and Rob Corlett with perfect 10’s followed by Dave Corlett, Ben Stembridge, Michael Cross and lady shooter Irene Stockil on 9. After the second stand we had a three way tie for first place between Dave Corlett, Michael and Stan Cross on 18 followed by Rob Corlett, Andre Vishnjov and Irene Stockil on 17.

After stand three we had the Cross’s tying for first place on 27 with Dave Corlett in third place on 26 followed by Jack Clague in forth place on 25. Michael Cross was in the lead on his own after stand four on 37 points mainly thanks to hitting all ten targets, in second place on 32 were Stan Cross, Dave and Rob Corlett with Peter Kelly next on 31 and making up the top six was junior Zac Bellhouse on 30.

After the fifth and last stand we had the following results, third place in C class went to Irene Stockil on 33 points with Andre Vishnjov in second place on 36 but winning C class with 39 points was Zac Bellhouse. George Davies was in third place in B class with 34 points with Jack Clague taking second place on 35 with Liam Kirkpatrick winning B class with 37 points. We had a tie for second place in A class between Peter Kelly and Stan Cross on 41 points but winning A class and also taking the the Ted Gohl highgun trophy with a well shot 47 was Michael Cross. The winner of the Brian Faragher handicap cup was junior Zac Bellhouse with 61 points.

Skeet Doubles Championship

The Cross Doubles Championship sponsored by Stan Cross was held at Meary Veg Santon with 19 competitors taking part in near ideal conditions.

We had a three way tie for first place after the first round between junior Zac Bellhouse, James Simpson and lady shooter Rachael Bowen Matthews all with 22 points. After the second round we still had a three way tie but this time joining Bellhouse were Dave Corlett and Paul Mihailovits all with 44 points, in forth place on 43 were Jeff Corkill, Michael Cross and James Simpson.

After round three Bellhouse was in the lead on his own with 67 points three ahead of Stan Cross, James Simpson and Paul Mihailovits on 64 followed by Michael Cross on 63 in fifth place  and making up the top six was Dave Corlett on 62. With all to shoot for in the last round Dave Corlett and Michael Cross finished in equal fifth place on 85, in equal third place were James Simpson and Paul Mihailovits, in second place after having the best score of the last round of 24 was Stan Cross with 88 points but keeping his nerve and scoring 22 in his last round to finish on 89 was junior Zac Bellhouse – well done Zac.
