English Skeet League – 2nd Round

The second round of the Utopia Hair Salon English Skeet league was held at Meary Veg, Santon with 23 competitors taking part in dry and very sunny conditions making seeing the targets on stand one and two very difficult.

Before shooting commenced a minutes silence was held in memory of Chris Turner a past member and chairman of the club who passed away this week.

The leader after the first round was Dave Corlett on 24, followed by Giulio Fabrizio, Juan Cowley, James Simpson, Jeff Corkill, John Moore and B class shooter Peter Fabrizio all on 23, with Paul Mihailovits, Stan Cross, and C class shooters Will Rand and Junior David Cowin on 22. After the second round Steven Rand finished in third place in C class with 40 points, in second place on 43 was junior David Cowin, with Will Rand taking C class with 44 points. In B class Dave Morgan and Mark Barnett were in equal third place on 42, with Peter Kelly taking second place on 43, but the clear winner of B class with 47 points was Peter Fabrizio. In A Class we had a three way tie for first place between James Simpson, Juan Cowley and Giulio Fabrizio all on 47 points.

First Round of Winter Skeet

English Skeet League – 1st Round

The first round of the Utopia Hair Salon Winter series English skeet league was held at Meary Veg, Santon in very windy and at times wet conditions.

The leader after the first round was Paul Mihailovits who only dropped one target for a 24, in equal second place on 23 were John Moore, Juan Cowley and B class shooter Brian Faragher followed by Stan Cross, Mark Barnett and C class shooters Will Rand and junior Joe Faragher. After the second round junior David Cowin was third in C class with 35 points with Will Rand second on 39 and junior Joe Faragher first in class on 41. In B class Peter Kelly was third on 32, with Mark Barnett second on 38, and Brian Faragher first on 40. In A class Juan Cowley was in third place on 43, with first round leader second on 47, but the star of the show was John Moore who hit a straight in his second round in worsening weather conditions to take A class on 48 points. Well done John.

Pro Sporting Winter League – 1st Round

The first round of the Winter Series Pro Sporting League sponsored by Stan Cross was held at Meary Veg, Santon with 18 competitors taking part in dull and wild conditions, which also had the Victor Annand cup up for grabs .

The leader after the first 25 was Neil Parsons with 22 points, in second place on 21 was Michael Cross, with George Davies third on 20. At the end of the second round Peter Fabrizio and Nicky Barnett finished in equal second place in C class on 27 points, with Mark Barnett taking C class with 35 points. In B class Giulio Fabrizio and George Davies were in equal second place on 37, with Junior Arran Wade taking the class and equal highgun on 39 points. In A class Neil Parsons was third on 37, with Stan Cross second on 38, taking A class and also equal high gun was junior Michael Cross on 39 points.

The Victor Annand cup presented to the highest person who is on the Saturday rota or a referee was won by Michel Cross.

It is the annual dinner on Saturday 7th November and as it is remembrance Sunday on the 8th the range will be closed as a sign of respect to the fallen.

Manx Skeet Championship

The annual Manx Skeet championship kindly sponsored by John Moore was held at Meary Veg, Santon with sixteen competitors taking part in near ideal conditions.

The leader after the first round was Juan Cowley with 23 points, in equal second place on 20 were John Moore, Peter Kelly and Arthur Hayes followed by Dave Corlett, George Davies and Mark Barnett on 19. After the second round we had a three way tie for first place between John Moore, Juan Cowley and Peter Kelly on 43 points, so a sudden death shoot off was required with doubles on four. After the first round of four targets it was still all square as they all hit three targets, Kelly then hit all four as did Cowley but Moore could only manage three so was eliminated, In the next set of targets Kelly hit three to Cowley’s two so the new Manx skeet champion for 2020 is Peter Kelly

Final Rounds for DTL, ABT, and Olympic Skeet

Tower Insurance DTL League

The final round of the Tower Insurance DTL league was held at Meary Veg, Santon with 18 competitors taking part in dull but dry conditions.

The leader after the first round was John Moore who hit a 25/74 straight, in second place on 24/71 was junior Arran Wade, with Arthur Stepka, Peter Kelly and Mike Parr in equal third place on 24/69. After the second round David Cowin finished in third place in C class with 108 points, in second place on 122 was Peter Fabrizio, with Rob Corlett taking C class with 134 points. George Davies was third in B class with 131 points, second place went to Arthur Hayes on 134, with Mike Parr winning B class with 137 points. Mike Walker was third in A class with 138 points, with Arthur Stepka taking second place on 139 but top gun on the day with 50 straight was John Moore with 146 points.

Sadler Agricultural Supplies ABT League

In the afternoon the last round of the Sadler Agricultural Supplies ABT league was held and the joint winners were father and son Alan and Arran Wade with 44 points, in third place on 41 was Peter Kelly, with Mike Walker forth on 40, followed by John Moore on 38, and making up the top six was Arthur Hayes on 37.

Manx Petroleum’s Olympic Skeet League

The last round of the Manx Petroleum’s Olympic skeet league was also held and the winner was James Bradley with 46 points, followed by David Clague on 39, and junior Ted Davis on 36.

Next week is the last shoot of the summer season which is 50 Manx Skeet sponsored by John Moore. Duty officers this week are J Cowley & J Corkill
