Successful Snooker ‘Fun Shoot’

A very enjoyable snooker shoot was held at Meary Veg, Santon, which was shot under one of the new shelters on the range so nobody got wet.

The winner of the individual section was Neil Parsons with a very good score of 78 (ex 100). In second place on 70 was Mark Barnett with Brian Faragher taking third place on 63 followed by Michael Cross in fourth place on 57 with Paul Mihailovits in fifth place on 56 and making up the top six was Brian Kelly on 55.

In team section shot separately to the individual  Stan Cross and Neil Parsons were the winners on 136 with Dave Corlett and Paul Mihailovits second on 107 and junior David Cowin and Brian Faragher in third place on 94. Full scores are available online.

Next week is another come and try it day for anybody that wishes to come along and try their hand at clay shooting, the cost is £5 for 10 shots with all equipment and coaching supplied. The range will also be open for  club members to come and practice.

Mihailovits Strong on Skeet

Manx Skeet Championship

The annual Manx Skeet Championship sponsored by John Moore was held at Meary Veg Santon in dry but very windy conditions.

The leader after the first round was Paul Mihailovits with 23 points with junior Joe Faragher in second place on 21 with Brian Faragher in third place on 20 followed by Jeff Corkill and Dave Corlett on 19 and making up the top six was Giulio Fabrizio on 18.

In the second round with the wind getting even stronger Dave Morgan finished in second place in C class on 28 with grandson Zac Bellhouse taking C class with 30 points. In B class junior David Cowin was second on 35 with Brian Faragher taking B class with 37 points. Dave Corlett was second in A class with 39 points with Jeff Corkill taking the class with 40 points, but the new Manx Skeet Champion for 2022 is Paul Mihailovits who scored 42 points – well done Paul!

Triple Trap Delight for Craine

Trap Medley

The Meary Veg Trap Medley kindly sponsored by building contractors Creer & Kelly Ltd was held at Meary Veg, Santon in near perfect conditions. The format of the competition is 30 DTL, 30 ABT and 30 Double Rise.

The leader after the DTL section was Mike Walker with 89 points with Rob Corlett in second place on 87 followed by Phil Ward in third place on 86, Steven Craine was fourth on 85 with Peter Kelly in fifth place on 82 and making up the top six were John Moore and Dave Corlett on 80.

The next round was ABT and Stan Skinner was the new leader only missing one target for a running total of 163, in second place on 161 was Mike Walker with Steven Craine and Peter Kelly in equal third place on 160. In fifth place on 158 was Phil ward with Rob Corlett making up the top six on 156.

Double rise was the last discipline which proved to be a game changer for some; John Moore finished in sixth place on 218, fifth place went to Peter Kelly on 220 with Stan Skinner who was the leader after the ABT finishing in fourth place  on 223. Third place went to Rob Corlett on 228 with his dad David taking the runner up spot on 230 but the winner with 238 points was Steven Craine – well done Stevie!

Last of the Summer Sporting

English Sporting – Round 6

The sixth and final round of the Suntera Sporting League was held at Meary Veg, Santon, with 19 competitors taking part in cool but dry conditions.

The leader after the first stand was veteran John Moore with a perfect 10 followed by nine shooters on 9. We had joint leaders after stand two in Paul Mihailovits and Rob Corlett on 19 with Will Rand in third place on 18 followed by Stan Cross and George Davies on 17. Rob Corlett was in the lead on his own after stand three with 27 points followed by Stan Cross and Paul Mihailovits on 26 with Peter Kelly, Will Rand and Jack Clague next on 24. Corlett was still the lead after stand four on 33 with Cross and Mihailovits next on 32 followed by Davies on 30.

After the fifth and last stand newcomer John Gaydon in his first sporting shoot finished with 18 points. In C class Mark Sweetman was third on 25 with Brian Kelly taking second place on 29 but winning with 31 points was Alan Wright. We had a tie for third place in B class between Will Rand and Peter Kelly on 37. We also had a tie for first place between Stan Cross and Rob Corlett on 40 points. In A class George Davies was third on 36 with junior David Cowin taking second place on 37 but winning A with 40 points was Paul Mihailovits.

Pro Sporting – Round 6

In the afternoon the last round of the Pam and Dave Corlett Pro Sporting league was held again with 19 competitors taking part.

The leader after the first layout was Steven Craine with 23 points with Dave Corlett and Will Rand in equal second place on 22 followed by Rob Corlett on 20 with C class shooter Alan Wright next on 19.

After the second layout Brian Kelly was third in C class with 27 points with Mark Sweetman second on 29 but the winner of C class was Alan Wright making it a double C class win on the day with 31 points. In B Class we had a tie for second place between Steven Craine and Mark Barnett on 35 but taking B class with 36 points was Rob Corlett. Peter Kelly was third in A class on 37 with Will Rand taking second place on 38 but the clear winner with 43 points was Dave Corlett.

Faragher Claims Skeet Title

Summer Skeet Round Six

The sixth and final round of the Colin Bowen Memorial English skeet league was held at Meary Veg Santon with sixteen competitors taking part in dull, dry but breezy conditions.

The leader after the first round was junior shooter Joe Faragher with a 25 straight, which proved to be the only straight shot on the day. In second place on 24 were Jeff Corkill, Will Rand and Dave Corlett followed by Peter Kelly and Stan Cross on 22. We also had two new shooters taking part in Ramon Sammer and John Gaydon with both of them hitting more than half their targets.

After a short break the second round got under way Dave Morgan finished in third place in C class with 38 points, in second place on 39 was junior Zac Bellhouse with Rob Marshall taking first place on 40. In B Class Peter Fabrizio was the winner on 31. In A class we had a five way tie for second place between Peter Kelly John Moore, Jeff Corkill, Will Rand and Dave Corlett all with 45 points but the winner was the first round leader junior Joe Faragher on 47.
