A short committee meeting was held after the AGM to set the fees for the 2022 season and the following were voted upon:

  • Senior Membership: Increased to £70.00
  • Junior Membership: – To remain at £5-00 but must be paid before their 21st birthday 
  • All competition and practice fees (per round of 25 targets) to remain the same: £5.50 for Seniors, £3.00 for Juniors, £8-00 for senior non-members and £4-00 for junior non-members

N.B. A Junior who becomes 21 in the year will then have to pay Senior rates from then on and will also not be eligible for any Junior prizes (this is in line with the MCTSA and English CPSA).

Membership can be paid anytime from now on, online or at the club house. Bank Details are as follows:

Fixtures

The Wednesday afternoon clubs Christmas party in on the 22nd with a small team competition between those that attend, so can you turn up on time to get a good start please 12:00 to 12:30)

The format for the Pre-Christmas shoot will be 20 Double Rise, 20 Skeet Doubles and 20 Pro Sporting with an entry fee of £15. The prizes are meat prizes with High gun and A, B, C,1st,2nd,3rd class prizes and a team event will also be included. The prizes are being sponsored by the club as a way of thanking the members for there support over the year. Entries close at 10am.

The main Christmas shoot is 50 Single Barrel DTL on Monday 27th December with a prize presentation/meal at the Crosby Hotel afterwards commencing at 5pm so get your name down ASAP only a few tickets left.

The shoot is being sponsored once again by Top Spec Fencing with Highgun, Handicap Cups up for grabs and also the Phil Yewdall non-members cup being shot for, if you have a friend that would like to take part bring them along (they must not be a member of any clay target club to be eligible to win the Phil Yewdall Cup). Entries close at 10am

The summer fixture list will be out Mid -January with some surprises included.

The Annual General Meeting of the Manx Clay Target Shooting Association will take place on Thursday 25th November 2021 at the Creg Na Baa starting at 7:00pm.

Please note should any member wish to add anything to the agenda please submit this in writing to the Secretary (mctsa.secretary@hotmail.com) by Thursday 18th November 2021. Only items on the agenda will be discussed and voted on at the AGM.

Private Party at Meary Veg

The Isle of Man Clay Pigeon Shooting Club hosted 29 eager shooters for a successful private event on Saturday 5th June – Happy Birthday Tracey!

Split into five squads, competitors tackled a variety of targets from three stands, warming up with a selection of incoming clays and finishing with a challenging barrage of on-report pairs.

Progress Update on our New Shelter

It’s been a productive morning down at Meary Veg today, with four pairs of hands sawing, nailing, hammering, rolling, and glueing various materials together for our new central shelter’s roof under the watchful eye of foreman Peter Kelly. The hours flew by and everybody escaped (mostly) unscathed despite my first encounter with a nail gun, putting us one step closer to having somewhere new to hide when the weather closes in once summer’s over. Great work by Brian, Will and Peter!

A Morning of Maintenance

Four hardy souls braved the intermittent (liquid) sunshine today to do some more work on the new shelter by the middle house, which is coming along very nicely now and almost ready for the roof.

We also fitted new doors to one of the sporting traps and readied everything for the coming weekend. It’s going to be a busy Sunday with ABT, DTL and Olympic Skeet on the menu, so get yourselves down early tomorrow and brush up on all-round skills with some open practice – range opens 10:00.

Charity Event Registration now Open

With summer fast approaching we have opened registration for this year’s charity clay target event in aid of Hospice IOM. Once again we’re holding the event on a single day, with a number of start times set aside exclusively for novices.

All Systems Go for Saturday 26 June 2021

Although it’s a team event we encourage single entrants as well as groups, and will be holding a draw on the day to make sure everyone belongs a team. This year’s entry charity donation is £35 and as always includes 50 targets, a full buffet, plus a limited edition commemorative polo shirt.

A Green Light for Summer ’21

And we’re back!

As of tomorrow, Monday 19th April 2021, lockdown restrictions will have been lifted sufficiently to allow us to use the range again. Our fixtures list has therefore been reworked to offer the full complement of rounds for each discipline, we’ve confirmed dates for all MCTSA and charity events, and a handful of hardy souls spent most of this weekend digging holes and planting poles, kicking off a series of planned enhancements this year.

Big shout out to Brian and Will for servicing the traps, Stan for getting the IT up to scratch, Peter and Stevie for conducting the earth movers, Nicky for picking up clays and sprucing up the clubhouse, John as senior banks-man, and yours truly for mostly getting in the way.
