DTL League, Round 4

The fourth round of the Tower Insurance DTL League was held at Meary Veg, Santon, with 21 competitors taking part in near ideal conditions.

The leader after the first round was Mike Walker with 71 points, in second place on 69 were Stan Cross and Alan Wright with Peter Kelly and Ted Kermeen next on 67 and making up the top six were Jack Clague and Brian Faragher on 65.

After the second round Mark Barnett finished in third place in C class on 115 with Rob Marshall taking second in C on 124 but winning C class with 126 points was Alan Wright. Giulio Fabrizio was third in B class with 128 points but we had a tie for first place between Stan Cross and junior Joe Faragher on 132 points.

We also had a tie for third place in A class between junior Arran Wade and John Moore on 133 points, one point ahead on 134 in second place was Peter Kelly but taking the high-gun and a class with 142 points was Mike Walker.

ABT League, Round 5

In the afternoon the fifth round of the Sadler Agricultural Supplies ABT League was held and the winner was Alan Wade with a well shot 48 but only one behind on 47 were Stan Skinner and Mike Walker with Phil Ward in forth place on 46 followed by Robert Watterson in fifth place on 45 and making up the top six was Peter Kelly on 44. The handicap winner was Orry Watterson with 57 points.

Olympic Skeet, Round 5

Also taking place was the fifth round of the Manx Petroleum’s Olympic Skeet League and the winner was Stan Cross with 35 points, in second place on 32 was junior Ted Davis with another junior Joe Faragher in third place on 31. We had a tie in the handicap section between Brian Faragher and Giulio Fabrizio both on 59 points.

Riley Strong for League Weekend

Tower Insurance DTL

It was another busy Sunday at Meary Veg, Santon, with three competitions taking place. First up was the third round of the Tower Insurance DTL League with 14 shooters taking part in nice dry calm conditions. The leader after the first round was John Moore with a 25/73 straight, in second place on 72 was junior Arran Wade with Mark Riley and Mike Walker next on 71 followed by Alan Wright, Peter Lowe and Rob Corlett all on 65.

At the end of the second round Allana Wade was in second place in C class with 95 points but taking C class 121 points was Rob Marshall. We had a tie for second in B class between Rob Corlett  and Giulio Fabrizio on 127 points but taking B class with 129 points was Peter Lowe.

In A class Mike Walker was third on 141 with junior Arran Wade taking second place on on 142 but top of the class with a fifty straight for 145 points was Mark Riley.

Manx Petroleum Olympic Skeet

In the afternoon the fourth round of Manx Petroleum’s Olympic Skeet League was also held which had the Parkinson Highgun cup up for grabs. The leader after the first round was veteran Peter Fabrizio with 17 point followed by son Giulio and junior Joe Faragher on 15.

After the second round we had a three way tie for third place between Ted Davis, Brian and Joe Faragher on 27 in second place on 29 was Giulio Fabrizio but turning back the years in first place  was Peter Fabrizio  with 33 points which also earned him the Parkinson Highgun Cup.

Sadler Agricultural ABT

The final shoot of the day was the fourth round of the Sadler Agricultural Supplies ABT League. In equal first place after the first round were Mark Riley and Arran Wade on 22 with Stan Skinner in third place on 21 with Peter Lowe in fourth place on 20. At the end of the second round Arran Wade was in third place on 37 with Stan Skinner repeating his first round score of 21 to take second place on 42 but the winner with 44 points was Mark Riley.

An All-Round Great Day

Parsons on Top for Club Championship

The IOM Clay Pigeon Shooting Club held their Club all-round Championship kindly sponsored by Manx Petroleum with 22 competitors taking part in dull but dry conditions. The championship is held over one round of all the disciplines shot in the summer leagues.

The leader after the first two disciplines, English Skeet and DTL was Mark Riley with 145 points, in second place on 143 was John Moore with Jeff Corkill in third place on 140, Neil Parsons was fourth on 139 followed by Stan Cross in fifth place on 138 and making up the top six was Peter Kelly on 137.

The next two disciplines were ABT and Olympic Skeet saw John Moore take the lead with 275 points seven ahead of Neil Parsons in second place on 268 with Mark Riley third on 262. In fourth place was Jeff Corkill on 254 followed by Brian Faragher in fifth on 250 and making up the top six was Peter Kelly on 248.

The final discipline was English Sporting which was shot in reverse order. In the ladies section Nicky Barnett was second on 204 but taking the ladies title with 208 points was junior Allana Wade. Third in the junior section was David Cowin on 239 with Joe Faragher taking second place on 260 but retaining his junior title with 313 points was Michael Cross. In C class David Cowin was the winner with Allana Wade taking second place and Orry Watterson taking third place.

In B class Michael Cross was the winner on 313 with Brian Faragher taking second on 310 followed by Jeff Corkill in third place on 299. In A class Mark Riley was third on 304 with Peter Kelly taking second place on 311, in first place on 326 and also taking the veterans championship was John Moore but top of the class taking the Club All Round Championship and the senior championship with 328 points was Neil Parsons.

Sunny Saturday Skeet and Trap

Saturday 24th July proved another busy day for the club as we ran the third rounds of our ABT and Olympic Skeet leagues, catching up with fixtures impacted by the third lockdown earlier this year.

Olympic Skeet

The third round of the Manx Petroleum’s Olympic Skeet League was held at Meary Veg, Santon, on Saturday afternoon in very hot conditions.

Joint leaders after the first round were Stan Cross and Jeff Corkill on 21 with junior Michael Cross in third place on 20. After the second round Stan Cross was in third place on 41 with Jeff Corkill taking second place on 42 but top of the class with 43 points hitting a 23 in his second round was Michael Cross.

ABT

The third round of the Sadler Agricultural Supplies ABT League was also held and leading the way with a 25 straight was veteran Peter Kelly. In second place on 24 was Alan Wade with Neil Parsons and Stan Skinner in equal third place on 23 followed by junior Arran Wade on 22. Making up the top six was Jack Clague on 21.

The high scoring was maintained in the second round with Stan Skinner hitting 24 to finish in third place on 47, one point ahead on 48 and recording a 25 straight in his second round was Neil Parsons. Top of the class with 49 points was Peter Kelly.

DTL League, Second Round

On Sunday morning 22 competitors took to the stands for the second round of the Tower Insurance DTL league which had the IOM Goats highgun cup and the Jack Harrison handicap cups up for grabs.

The leader at the half way stage was junior shooter Arran Wade who shot a perfect 25/75 one ahead of his dad Alan on 74 and three ahead of Mike Walker, Phil Ward and Mark Riley on 71. At the end of the second and final round  in C class Richie Radcliffe was third on 112 with junior shooter David Cowin second on 131. David had a 25 straight in his first round and taking C class with 133 points was Will Rand. In B class another junior Joe Faragher was third with 119 points with Jack Clague taking second place on 127. Winning B class with 133 points was Dave Corlett.

In A class Phil Ward hit a 25/74 straight to finish in third place on 145, Mark Riley went one better hitting a 25/75 straight to take second place on 146 but the star of the show hitting his second 25 straight to make 50 straight and winning the IOM Goats High Gun cup was junior shooter Arran Wade – well shot Arran!

Winning the Jack Harrison Handicap cup was Will Rand with 185 points 8 ahead of David Cowin in second place on 177 with Richie Radcliffe third on 163.

Olympic Skeet League, Second Round

In the afternoon the second round of the Manx Petroleum’s Olympic skeet was held which also included the Cannell Crossing cup.

The leader at the half way stage was James Bradley with 23 points with Stan Cross second on 21 and junior Ted Davis third on 20. Ted maintained station and finished in third place on 41 with James Bradley now in second place on 44 but the Cannell Crossing cup winner with his maiden 25 straight in Olympic skeet was Stan Cross on 46 points .

ABT League, Second Round

The final competition of the week was the second round of the Sadler Agricultural Supplies ABT League which had the J D Faulkner High Gun cup and the Peter Kelly Handicaps cups up for grabs.

We had a three way tie at the half way stage with Alan Wade, John Moore and Peter Kelly all on 23 with Mark Riley next on 22. John Moore slipped a bit in the second round but managed to finish in third place on 44 points. Mark Riley and Alan wade were both in the same squad and they went at it hammer and tongs, both hitting straights but Alan was the winner with 48 points to Mark’s 47. Mike Parr was the winner of the handicap cup with 54 points.
