Intense Shoot-off for Doubles Title

Cross Skeet Doubles

The annual Cross Skeet Doubles sponsored by the Cross family was held at Meary Veg Santon with 18 competitors taking part in mostly dry but very blustery conditions.

We had a three way tie for first place after the first round between Paul Mihailovits, and father and son Stan and Michael Cross on 21 followed by John Moore, Roman Sammer and lady shooter Rachael Bowen Matthews on 20.

Michael Cross was in the lead on his own after round two with 44 points with Paul Mihailovits second on 43 and Stan Cross third on 41. Mihailovits was in the lead after round three with 65 points one ahead of Michael Cross in second place on 64 followed by Stan Cross in third place on 62 with Rachael Bowen Matthews next on 60 with John Moore and James Simpson next on 59.

Once all the scores were checked after the fourth and final round John Moore finished in forth place with 81 points with Stan Cross taking third place with 85 points but we had a tie for first place between Paul Mihailovits and Michael Cross on 87 points so a shoot off was required to find a winner with pairs on four and what a shoot off we had, in the first set of four targets Paul and Michael both hit three out of four, as they did in the next four, then Paul hit all 4 targets but Michael matched him hitting all four targets in the next set of four it was three apiece, so on to the fifth set of four and Paul hit all four but Michael missed one so Paul was the 2023 Skeet Doubles Champion well done Paul.
