Sammer Scoops Skeet Cup

English Skeet, Round 3

The third round of the Colin Bowen Memorial English Skeet league was held at Meary Veg Santon with 18 competitors taking part in dry but blustery conditions, which also had the Wilf Cannell Handicap cup up for grabs.

The leader after the first round was C class shooter Rob Marshall with 24 points – it should have been 25 but Rob put his last cartridge in the wrong barrel! In equal second place on 23 were another C class shooter Roman Sammer, John Moore, Brian Faragher, James Simpson and Peter Kelly.

At the end of the second round we had Mark Hepworth finishing third in C class with 39 points, in second place on 44 was Rob Marshall but taking C class with 46 points was Roman Sammer. Madeleine Simpson finished in third place in B class with 35 points with George Davies taking second place on 43 but winning B class with 45 points was Brian Faragher. We had a three way tie for first place in A class with John Moore, James Simpson and Rachael Bowen Matthews all scoring 46 points.

In the battle for the handicap cup we had a clear winner in Roman Sammer with 59 points. It was good to see another new shooter taking to the stands in Tracey Hepworth who nearly beat her husband in the second round, definitely one to watch.
