End of Summer Newsletter

As another successful summer season comes to an end the committee have a few announcements to make, including changes to membership fees.

Annual Dinner & Prize Presentation

The dinner this year is again being held at the Douglas Golf Club on Saturday 11th November starting at 7-30pm, please make every effort to attend to collect any prizes you have may have won and also to say thank you to our sponsors whom without we would not be able to present the prizes we do on a weekly basis.  This year we have been able to present just over 16,500 cartridges and over £2,600 in prize money.

Tickets this year are £25 per head and must be paid for when putting your name on the sheet in the club house.  There will be no horse racing this year, but we will be having a quiz and bingo along with a raffle, donations for raffle prizes would be grateful.

Winter Fixtures

The winter fixture list is now published which is on the same format as last year, we also have the same sponsors as last winter’s leagues, these being Cu Plas Callow for DTL Utopia Hair Salon for English Skeet and Brian, Will, Stan and Peter for the Pro Sporting.

Christmas Shoots

2 person Team event with the competitors split so cannot be in the same class, the format will be 25 English Skeet and 25 Pro Sporting. The lower-class shooter will decide which discipline they want to shoot. The prizes will be provided by the club.

This shoot is sponsored by the club which will have the usual meat prizes for A, B, C classes and shot over 20 Double Rise, 20 Skeet Doubles and 20 Pro Sporting.  There will also be a team event drawn at random.

Sunday 31st December

Unfortunately, this year we will not be having the presentation dinner at the Crosby Hotel this year due to the way the dates fall.   The presentation will be in the club house once the shoot has finished.  Food and refreshments will be laid on by the club FOC. There will be more detail nearer the event.

Handicaps and Classes

The committee have decided to reclass all club shooters as of 1st November 2023.  This is to reflect a more accurate class and handicap for members.  The classes will be based on scores from winter 2022/23 and summer 2023 league scores.  These will be used for Winter 2023/24 and Summer 2024 league shoots.  The classes and handicaps will be posted on the club noticeboard before the 1st winter league shoot.

If anyone has any queries on anything within the club, please contact a committee member who will try and answer any questions.

Thats all for now.

Good Shooting for the upcoming winter season.
