Good Turnout for Second Winter Round

The second round of the Cu Plas Callow winter Series DTL League was held at Meary Veg, Santon, with 23 competitors taking part in dry and breezy conditions.

The overall leader and leading A class after the first round was Mike Walker with a 25 straight for 73 points, second place in A class was Alan wade with son Arran in third place on 70. Stan Cross was the leader of B class with 66 points with Jack Clague and Giulio Fabrizio in equal second place on 63.

In C class junior Ted Davis was leading on 59 with Mark Barnett and junior David Cowin in equal second place on 58. After the second round David Cowin  finished in third place in C class with 114 points but we had a tie for first place between Mark Barnett and Ted Davis on 127 points. Giulio Fabrizio finished in third place in B class with 124 points with Stan Cross taking second place on 129 but taking B class with 130 points was Jack Clague.

In A class Brian Faragher was in third place on 138 with first round leader Mike Walker taking second place on 140 but taking the A class victory as well as the highgun on the day was Alan Wade on 141.

Annual Christmas Shoot

Wade Victorious in Single Barrel DTL

The IOM Clay Pigeon Club held their Christmas shoot kindly sponsored once again by Top Spec Fencing on Monday 27th December with 51 competitors taking part in dry dull conditions.

The leader after the first round was junior Arran Wade with a perfect 25 straight with dad Alan in second place on 24 followed by junior Joe Faragher who led B class and Stan Skinner on 23. The C class leader was Will Rand on 20. In the non members section for the Phil Yewdall cup Tony Radcliffe was the leader on 20.

After the second round in the unclassified section Stan Skinner was the winner on 135 with Calum Craine in second place on 129 with David Clague in third place on 120. Clementine Kermode Clague was the ladies winner on 114 with Nicky Barnett in second place on 60. The junior winner was Arran wade on 141 with Joe Faragher second on 117 followed by Ted Davis in third place on 111.

In the handicap section the winner of the George Costain Memorial handicap cup was lady shooter Nicky Barnett with 150 points, beating hubby Mark by 2 points. In C class Will Rand was the winner with 114 points followed by Alan Wright in second place on 93 with Peter Fabrizio third on 84.

Mark Barnett was the winner of B class with 123 points with Jack Clague second on 120 followed by junior Joe Faragher in third place on 117. We had a tie for second place in A class between Brian Faragher and Mike Walker on 120 but taking A class with 135 points was Alan Wade but the star of the day was junior Arran Wade who was the only shooter to hit a straight and the only shooter to break the 140 barrier finishing on 141 and winning the John Moore Christmas High Gun Cup – well done Arran!

Radcliffe leads Novices

We had a good turn out of 17 competitors in the non-members section where we had a tie for second place between Paul Webstick and junior lady Olivia Howland on 93 points but winning the section and the Phil Yewdall Cup was Tony Radcliffe with 11 points.

Winter 2021 Pre-Christmas Cracker

A Festive Trio of Targets

The annual pre Christmas shoot was held at Meary Veg, Santon, with 23 competitors taking part in dry calm but misty conditions and was sponsored by the club as a way of a thank you to members for their support over the past year.

It was a new format this year with Skeet Doubles, Double Rise and a shortened Pro Sporting to make it a 60 target shoot. The leaders of A class after the Skeet Doubles were Stan Cross and Paul Mihailovits with a full house, hitting all 20 targets with George Davies, John Moore and Giulio Fabrizio next on 18. In B class Michael Cross was the leader also on 20 with with Will Rand, Mark Barnett and Brian Faragher next all on 17. Steven Rand was the C class leader on 15 with Brian Kelly next on 14 followed by Nicky Barnett on 13.

The next discipline was Double Rise and Stan Cross first with a running total of 34 with Steven Craine next on 33 followed by Paul Mihailovits in third place on 31. Michel Cross was still the leader of B class also on 34 points the same as his Dad in A class, but we had a four way tie for second place between Will Rand, Brian Faragher, Mark Barnett and Ted Kermeen all on 28. Steven Rand was still the leader of C class with 22 points with Brian Kelly and Allana Wade in equal second place on 21 with Nicky Barnett and Orry Watterson next on 20.

The final discipline Pro Sporting saw Allana Wade taking third place in C class with 32 points with Brian Kelly in second place on 33 points but taking C class with 34 points was Steven Rand. In B class Brian Faragher was third on 44 with Mark Barnett second on 45 with Will Rand taking B class with 46 points, Michael Cross who was leading B class shot 19 on the pro sporting to take highgun overall with 53 points beating his dad by two points who was the winner of A class on 51 points, Paul Mihailovits was second in A on 49 with George Davies taking third place on 48.

A short committee meeting was held after the AGM to set the fees for the 2022 season and the following were voted upon:

  • Senior Membership: Increased to £70.00
  • Junior Membership: – To remain at £5-00 but must be paid before their 21st birthday 
  • All competition and practice fees (per round of 25 targets) to remain the same: £5.50 for Seniors, £3.00 for Juniors, £8-00 for senior non-members and £4-00 for junior non-members

N.B. A Junior who becomes 21 in the year will then have to pay Senior rates from then on and will also not be eligible for any Junior prizes (this is in line with the MCTSA and English CPSA).

Membership can be paid anytime from now on, online or at the club house. Bank Details are as follows:

Fixtures

The Wednesday afternoon clubs Christmas party in on the 22nd with a small team competition between those that attend, so can you turn up on time to get a good start please 12:00 to 12:30)

The format for the Pre-Christmas shoot will be 20 Double Rise, 20 Skeet Doubles and 20 Pro Sporting with an entry fee of £15. The prizes are meat prizes with High gun and A, B, C,1st,2nd,3rd class prizes and a team event will also be included. The prizes are being sponsored by the club as a way of thanking the members for there support over the year. Entries close at 10am.

The main Christmas shoot is 50 Single Barrel DTL on Monday 27th December with a prize presentation/meal at the Crosby Hotel afterwards commencing at 5pm so get your name down ASAP only a few tickets left.

The shoot is being sponsored once again by Top Spec Fencing with Highgun, Handicap Cups up for grabs and also the Phil Yewdall non-members cup being shot for, if you have a friend that would like to take part bring them along (they must not be a member of any clay target club to be eligible to win the Phil Yewdall Cup). Entries close at 10am

The summer fixture list will be out Mid -January with some surprises included.

Winter Skeet Utopia

English Skeet, Second Round

The second round of the Utopia Hair Salon Winter series English skeet league was held at Meary Veg, Santon, with 26 competitors taking part in dull, misty and damp conditions.

We had three way tie for first place after the first round between Dave Corlett, John Moore and Jeff Corkill who all hit 25 straights followed by Stan Cross, Paul Mihailovits and B class shooter Peter Kelly on 24. The leader of C class was lady shooter Nicky Barnett with 22 followed by junior Zac Bellhouse in second place on 21.

After the second round Orry Watterson finished in third place in C class with 36 points with Alan Wright taking second place on 38 but taking C class with a very good score of 43 was junior Zac Bellhouse. In B class we had a tie for third place between Ted Kermeen and Will Rand on 45, in second place on 46 was junior Joe Faragher but taking B class with 47 points was Peter Kelly. In A class we had a tie for second place between John Moore and Jeff Corkill on 48 but taking A class with 49 points hitting a straight in his second round was Stan Cross.
