A Long Day of Summer Sporting

Pro Sporting, Round 3

The third round of the Dave and Pam Corlett Pro Sporting League was held at Meary Veg, Santon with 27 competitors taking to the stands in near ideal conditions.

Unfortunately there was a lot of technical issues with the right hand layout but after all the shooting finished we had the following results.

In C class we had Sue Doyle and Brian Kelly in equal third place with 22 points, in second place on 25 was Nicky Barnett and taking C class with 33 points was Will Ennett.

Junior David Cowin was in third place in B class with 31 points with George Davies in second place on 33 but taking the spoils in B class with 37 points was junior Joe Faragher.

Alan Wade was third in A class with 40 points with Rob Corlett taking second place with 41 points but winning A class and highgun on the day was Michael Cross with 45 points.

English Sporting, Round 3

In the afternoon the third round of the Suntera Global Sporting league was held with 23 competitors taking to the stands in ideal conditions.

We had a seven way tie for first place after the first stand with Arran Wade, Paul Mihailovits, Michael Cross, Mark Barnett, Rob Corlett, John Moore and Peter Kelly all scoring the maximum of ten.

Michael Cross was in the lead on his own after stand two with 18 points with Rob Corlett in second place on 17 followed by Paul Mihailovits, John Moore and George Davies in equal third place on 15.

Michael Cross was still in lead after stand three with 26 points with Arran Wade, Paul Mihailovits and George Davies in equal second place on 23 followed by Rob Corlett on 22.

Michael Cross was still in the lead after stand four with 33 points three ahead of junior Arran Wade and Paul Mihailovits  in second place on 30 followed by Dave Corlett in forth place on 29.

After the fifth and last stand in C class Ed Rixon finished in third place with 20 points with Alan Wright taking second place with 24 points but taking C class with 25 points was lady shooter Nicky Barnett.

John Moore was third in B class with 28 points with Dave Corlett claiming second place with 33 points but winning B class with 38 points and overall highgun on the day was junior Arran Wade.

Alan Wade was third in A class with 36 points but we had a tie for first place between Paul Mihailovits and Michael Cross  on 37 points.

Mihailovits Retains CM Trophy

CM Partners English Skeet GP

The annual CM Partners English skeet GP was held at Meary Veg Santon with 21 competitors starting off in dull misty conditions and with a prize pot of over £700 to be dished out to the winners.

The leader after the first 25 was Michael Cross with a 25 straight, in equal second place on 24 were James Simpson, and club patron David Morgan followed by Paul Mihailovits, Stan Cross and Rachael Bowen Matthews on 23.

James Simpson was in the lead after round two on 49 courtesy of a 25 straight, Michael Cross was in second place on 48 with Rachel Bowen Matthews and John Moore next on 47, John hitting a straight in his second round, Stan Cross and the leading junior Joe Faragher were next on 46. The leading B class shooter at the half way stage was Mark Barnett on 43 with David Morgan leading C class on 46. Michael Cross and Rachael Bowen Matthews were joint leaders after round three on 71 with Stan Cross next on 70 followed by James Simpson on 69, Paul Mihailovits hit a straight in his third round to bring him up to equal fifth place with junior Joe Faragher on 68.

It was all to shoot for in the last round to see who went forward to the final and it could not have been tighter with a three way tie for first place between Stan and Michael Cross and Rachael Bowen Matthews on 94 and James Simpson and Paul Mihailovits on 93. Just as the final got under way the weather turned with wind, rain and misty conditions for the shooters to contend with but it made no difference to Paul Mihailovits has he went on to hit his third straight of the day to take the Championship with 118 points with James Simpson in second place on 116 and the Cross boys in equal third place on 115.

Foggy Third Summer Leagues

DTL League, Round Three

The third round of the Tower Insurance DTL league was held at Meary Veg Santon in dry but misty conditions.

The leader after the first round were Mark Riley and junior Arran Wade with 72 points, in third place on 69 was Mike Walker. The leading B class shooter was Dave Corlett on 59 with Jeff Corkill leading C class on 57.

At the end of the second round newcomer Mike Whitehead finished in third place in C class on 92 with Brian Kelly taking second place with 96 points but winning C class with 115 points was Jeff Corkill. Rob Marshall was third in B class on 102 with George Davies taking second place on 115 but in first place on 119 was Dave Corlett. Mike Walker was third in A on 131 with Mark Riley taking second place on 136 but winning A class with 141 was junior Arran Wade.

Olympic Skeet League, Round Three

In the afternoon the third round of the Manx Petroleum’s Olympic skeet league was held and the winner was James Bradley with 41 points in second place on 40 was Giulio Fabrizio with Jeff Corkill third on 34. The Cannell Crossing cup was also up for grabs and James Bradley was the winner.

ABT League, Round Three

The third round of the Sadler Agricultural Supplies ABT league was also held which had the J D Faulkner Highgun and the Kelly handicap cups up for grabs.

Mark Riley lead the way after the first round with a 25 straight, Steven Craine would have tied for the lead but he missed his last target to be in equal second place with Arran Wade on 24.

After the second round we had Alan Wade in third place overall on 45 mainly thanks to a straight in his second round but we had a tie for first place between Mark Riley and Steven Craine on 47 so a shoot off was required to see who lifted the J D Faulkner Cup and in the shoot off the bragging rights went to Steven Craine who hit 22 to Marks 20. The winner of the Kelly handicap cup was junior Arran Wade with 53 points.

Cross Shines through Fog

Fabrizio Summer All-Round

The annual Fabrizio All Round Championship and kindly sponsored by Giulio Fabrizio was held at Meary Veg Santon in extremely misty conditions.

The leader after the first round which was English skeet was Michael Cross with a perfect 25/75 straight, in second place on 69 points was John Moore and Jeff Corkill followed by Mark Riley, James Bradley and Stan Cross on 66.

The next discipline was DTL and we had  a new leader in Mark Riley with 137 points with Michael Cross in second place on 135 followed by John Moore on 133. Michael Cross was in the lead again after the ABT section on 204 with Mark Riley and Jeff Corkill now in equal second place  on 197 followed by John Moore on 190. The next discipline to be shot was Olympic skeet and Michael Cross increased his lead scoring 66 for a running total of 270 ,19 ahead of Jeff Corkill and James Bradley in equal second place on 251 with James hitting a straight in this discipline, Mark Riley was next on 248 followed by John Moore on 241. The last discipline was Pro Sporting and  Nicky Barnett finished strongly to take second place in C class with 186 points with Mark Hepworth taking C class with 203. Jeff Corkill finished in second place in B class on 278 with Stan Cross taking B class with 293. In A class James Bradley was second on 293 with Mark Riley taking A class with 308 but the top gun on the day went to Michael Cross who shot consistently all day to take the Championship by 31 points with a final total of 339 – well done Michael.

Ward Victorious

Single Barrel DTL Manx Championship

The Sadler Agricultural Supplies IOM Single Barrel DTL Championship was held at Meray Veg Santon in near ideal conditions.

The joint leaders after the first round were Phil Ward and junior Arran Wade with 24 points, in  third place on 21 was Mike Walker. It was status quo after the second round with Wade and Ward in first place on 45 with Walker third on 44.

We had a clear leader after the third round in Phil Ward on 66 with Arran Wade now second on 64 followed by Mike Walker in third place on 63.After the forth and last round Wade finished in third place on 85 points with Walker taking second place on 86 but the clear winner and the only shooter to stay in the twenties all day was Phil Ward with 89 points.
